I strongly encourage you to say 'YES' to the Tropical Forest and Coral Reefs Act. With NOAA ranking our US reefs as 'Poor' to 'Fair' it is obvious we have some conservation issues that need to be addressed. Looking at the Great Barrier Reef it is sad to know that the bright color and arrays of fish are severely depleted. It doesn't take a scientist to see that the brown coral and lack of activity is a huge concern. This can only be monitored and controlled by skilled professionals and it is imperative that we take action now so that our reefs and forest can recover. Thousands of trees are being threatened as well and this affect the air quality for the planet and contributes to global warming. New Orleans is a good example because their trees were removed and there was nothing to help aid as a natural barrier they were hit even harder. Scientist say a stand of trees can lower the temperature in the area by about 3-5 degrees. It is important that we monitor our forests and construction to ensure a healthy balance for the planet. CNN recently reported, "Humpback whales, sea cucumbers and Australian red algae are just a few of the species leading the way in modern medicine". We can't turn our backs on these opportunities. I respectfully request that you pass the Tropical Forest and Coral Reef Act. We want our forest protected and we need our oceans healthy. Sincerely,
